Halloween

Finley had so much fun on Halloween. The whole trick or treating think clicked and she was so excited to get candy. We went to a few houses on our street, but not too many. She already has way too much energy and doesn't need any more candy! She had a great time at school on Friday. Her class got to join in on the Halloween music again this year and trick or treat down the administration hallway. Here are a couple pics on the girls. Finley was an oreo cookie and Ellis was a spider, just like Finley was. Maybe it won't scar her to wear a hand me down costume!

I am not a bad mom, I have a lot more pictures of the girls, but there are a lot of kids in the pictures that I don't know and I'm scared to post them on here without permission. That's sad, but just how the world is these days...

Pumpkins

Fun day at the Arboretum. Yay for pumkins!

Ellis is getting so big!

Ellis is getting so big, I can't believe how time flies. She mastered sitting up around 6 months then went to rolling all over the place. And now, to our dismay, she is crawling and pulling up on everything! We really have to keep our eye on her, but luckily Finley is happy to help too. Her new favorite thing to say is, "No, No Baby Ellis, you can't have that, you're too little, only big girls, you're a baby".

I am still nursing and plan to make it a year. I made it a year with Finley so I am going to do the same with Ellis. She is very serious about eating! Her favorite foods include: sweet potatoes, butternut squash, broccoli, apples, pears, prunes and mangos. She will reluctantly eat carrots, green peas and avocado, but is not quite as enthusiastic. She refuses to eat green beans. I am trying to find another green vegetable she will eat so she doesn't turn orange! I am making most of her food like I did with Finley. It's really easy and I like doing it, plus baby food is expensive and I'm cheap!

She has three teeth is is getting another one. Two on bottom, one of top and the one next to it is trying to come in now. She has been a little fussy, but she is being a trooper.

Finley picked out her own outfit. Isn't she a vision in "Colka Dots"...

Love all of them, thanks Abby!

Baby Chiropractor

Ellis is the sweetest little baby, she always has been. My only complaint since she was born has been that she was not a good sleeper. I think I literally held her for the first month of her life. She was always gassy and hardly ever pooped, maybe once a week. I called the doctor several times and every time they would tell me, it is perfectly normal for a breastfed baby to go up to 10 days without pooping. She never screamed or anything, but I could just tell she was not comfortable. A little after 4 months, we tried cereal to see if that would help her sleep at night, not so much. It just made her even more constipated. The doctor told me I could give her a little juice and water. It never really helped. After talking with a few people at school and my childcare director, they all suggested I take her to see a chiropractor. What?

Very skeptical, I listened, did a little research and called the doctor they recommended and find out if she could help. She educated me on a few things and I went ahead and made an appointment thinking that Brandon would never agree to this. I ran it by him and to my surprise, he said, "Let's go, I would try to Voodoo at this point". So off we go to see Dr. Hall.

Dr. Hall asked us tons of questions about my pregnancy, delivery and all kinds of things about Ellis. She examined her and felt all up and down her back, neck and belly. She said she felt some "restrictions" and she asked if it was okay to make a few adjustments and took my arm and showed me the pressure she was going to use. It was nothing so we said okay. She pushed on a few places and that was it. We talked to a while longer about nutrition and she gave me suggestions on what I should be eating to help Ellis and what we should be feeding her and what we should not be feeding her. She also suggested I start drinking this vege vitamin drink to help me. She said she could just look at me and see some deficiencies. I think I looked pretty exhausted!

Results:

1) Within a week, Ellis was sleeping through the night

2) Within two weeks, she was pooping multiple times a day

3) I have way more energy and I have actually started running again

We have been back several times to see Dr. Hall and Ellis and I are both feeling great! I have even been adjusted a few times!

Dance Class

During summer school, there were several summer classes that were also going on at Finley's school. Finley's teacher's daughter was performing in a dance recital so Finley got to walk over to watch the "big girls" dance one day. Before the recital, there was music playing so Miss Martha told Finley's class it was okay to run around and dance. Well, according to Miss Martha, Finley was "getting down", even watching herself in the mirror. Miss Martha told me she had parents come up to her after the recital to tell her they enjoyed Finley's show more than the recital! So after hearing this, I start to look for a dance class for Finley. I found a little studio that had an opening in their 2 to 3 year old class, starting in September. Perfect! Brandon and I decided we would let her try it out, if she didn't like it, no big deal. Well, Finley LOVES it! She wants to go every day. She doesn't quite get the days of the week yet and doesn't understand she only goes to dance on one day. She has two recitals, one in December and another in May.

Here are some pictures of Finley getting her ballet shoes and tap shoes, so excited...

I couldn't resist the "Dance" backpack...

Science Museum

We decided to head to the Science Museum in Fair Park one Saturday in August to beat the heat! Finley had a blast, we played inside, then walked over to the Old Mill Restaurant for lunch. It was a fun day!

4th of July

We spent 4th of July weekend in Sherman with Momo and Papa. We just hung out around the house, played outside, and did a little swimming.

Baby Ellis' outfit was a little snug. We were able to get it on for the picture, but Momo had to return it...
