Cotton Bowl

Well, even though Tech lost the game, we still had a great time at the Cotton Bowl this year. It was a beautiful day and we had a wonderful time tailgating and catching up with old friends! Thanks Steve for the great tickets!

Christmas

Finley's first Christmas was great! My mom and I braved Northpark on the night before Christmas eve so Finley could get her picture taken with Santa. For those of you who have done this, you know it is a nightmare, but luckily, Brandon had gone earlier in the day to pick up a number so we didn't have to wait that long. Finley did great, she wasn't quite sure what to think of Santa, but didn't freak out and we got some cute pictures.

We traveled to Sherman to have Christmas with Brandon's family first. We went to the candlelight service at Austin college on Christmas Eve. Finley wore a beautiful dress Brandon's mom had gotten for her. On Christmas Day, Finley opened her presents and got her new car from Santa. I think we drove it around the house a thousand times, she loved it!

Next stop was Corsicana. Finley had so much fun with her cousin Braden. As you can see, Braden got some dress up clothes from Santa!!

White Rock Marathon

Brandon and I ran in the White Rock Marathon Relay this past weekend. It was warm and super windy (not great running conditions), but we had a lot of fun. Thanks to Stacy for being our team leader and getting us all organized and thanks to her husband Jason for being our driver and cheerleader!

Home Sick

It's kind of ironic that we went to visit the doctor yesterday for Finley's 9 month well visit and then today, Finley and I both woke up with a nasty cold! She has been a trooper today, I can tell she doesn't feel well, but she has been super sweet. I hate that she is sick, but I love when she lets me rock her and cuddle, because lately, she thinks she is too big to do those things.

I have to say that I was so upset when I woke up this morning with this stuff, the first thing I thought of was how there was no way I could miss work because I have too many things to do and I had no time to be sick. It took me a little bit, but I think this was God's way of making me slow down and realize what's important. Even though I feel horrible, I have really enjoyed being home with Finley today. We got to hang out, listen to Christmas music, read books, play and rest and I realized somewhere between blowing my own nose and wiping Finley's snotty nose how precious this time today has been. She is growing up way too fast and it really hit me yesterday at the doctor's office when the nurse asked me if I wanted to go ahead and schedule her one year well visit, that's right one year!! I couldn't believe it!

Poor little thing...

Hanging in there...

Her toy of choice today was between the saline nose spray and...

the empty Kleenex box!!

9 Month Check-up

We went to visit the doctor for Finley's 9 month check-up (actually closer to 9 1/2 months). She had a great check-up, here are her stats:

Weight - 22.5 pounds - 93%
Height - 29 in. - 87%

For those of you who haven't seen the video I posted last week, Finley is officially walking!! She is going everywhere and is pretty proud of herself! Her personal best is 16 steps without falling.

Also, her new favorite word is uh oh and her new favorite game is playing with the spider hat that came with her Halloween costume. She loves for one of us to put the hat on, then she likes to take it off and hand it back us with her little eyes and smile saying "do it again, mommy", then repeat about 20 times!

Thanksgiving

We had a lot of fun at Grammy and Poppy's house over Thanksgiving. We visited Poppy at his store, saw some cute horses, Finley played with her cousin Braden and we got to see lots of family and friends.

Playing at Poppy's store...

Beep, Beep...

Mom and Dad's neighbor invited us over to see his Miniature horses. One had a little baby and she was so cute...

Another car at Grammy and Poppy's house, I think Santa might bring one of these so we can have one at home...

Finley's loved this red ball and would hardly put it down...
