Finley's First Week at School

Well, Finley started school last week and as hard as it was on me, she is doing just fine. She loves to play with the other kids and is having so much fun. She is right on campus in the building next door so I am able to run down and see her whenever I want. I usually go see her at least three times, sometimes four times during the day. Her teacher calls me when it's time for her to eat and I run down and feed her. She usually takes at least two good naps during the day, and they take her for stroller rides, sometimes even stopping by my office with her to say hello. Her teacher told me the other day that Finley loves to take socks off the other kids. They will be sitting on the mat playing, and she will look down and most of the kids will only have one sock on. Look like we have a little sock thief!!

6 Month Check-up

We went to visit the doctor for Finley's 6 month check-up. Her doctor said she was doing just great! She said if we haven't baby-proofed the house yet, we better do it, because Finley looks like she is about to be mobile. We talked about her eating and what foods to introduce next. We started with peas a couple weeks ago, then green beans, and then apples. She has loved all of them. I think we are going to try pears, then carrots next. I have been making all of her food at home using this neat little BabyCook machine Brandon's Grandmother gave us and it has been surprisingly easy. Overall she is a really good eater and a very healthy little girl, we feel very blessed. Here are her updated stats:

Height - 27.5 in. (94%)
Weight - 19.8 lbs (96%)

Trying to Crawl

Finley can now go from sitting to up on all fours all by herself. She can rock back and forth, then she lays on her tummy and doesn't really know what to do next. She will figure it out soon enough and I'm sure be into everything before we know it!!

Finley's Favorite Toy

Out of all the toys Finley has to play with, she wants to play with the remote...

Dad has a Major Ouchy!!

Okay, so we spent last night in the Baylor Emergency room. We had just finished making dinner and Brandon managed to spill hot oil all over is arm. His skin started bubbling up and looked horrible, we grabbed an ice pack, put Finley in her car seat and headed to Baylor. I thought Brandon was going to pass out on the way, but we made it. Since he was in so much pain, they were able to get him in right away. After about an hour of agony, he finally got an IV with pain medicine. It took a while to get his pain under control, and then they finally examined the damage. Mostly 2nd degree, possibly 3rd degree burns. Brandon's mom and sister came up there and Henry (Brandon's cousin who is also a doctor) and his wife Kacy met us there as well. My parents came and took Finley back to our house. (Finley was very entertained at the Hospital, poor Dad was dancing around in agony and Finley was just smiling thinking he was doing a dance just for her) So we finally made it home and Brandon was able to sleep some. He is better today, but still very uncomfortable. It is going to take a while to heal, but I think he is going to be all right. We are very thankful because it could have been so much worse. Thanks so much to everyone for all of your help. We are so grateful!!

Bows and Sippy Cups

Well, we have been waiting on more hair so we can start wearing bows. I was able to get one in the other day, but it was just hanging on by a thread. Hopefully someday soon we can wear all of our bows.

We have started giving Finley a sippy cup to play with. I think it's more of a toy now, but she seems to like it.

Dallas World Aquarium

Hi Everyone, well we have been trying to survive this heat wave. We go for walks first thing in the morning, but by 9:00 or 10:00 we pretty much have to stay inside. Finley gets so bored at home so we have to find things to do. We decided to visit the Dallas World Aquarium today and it was great. Air conditioning and tons of things for Finley to see. Brandon's mom came down to go with us, we had a very nice lunch and then walked through all of the exhibits.

Huge Crocodile...

Finley loved the waterfall...

Thanks for coming with us Julie, we had a great time...

Shark Tunnel...

Did you notice Finley has on a different outfit? Well, about halfway through, she decided to spill my iced tea all over her. She's so quick, I saw her eyes move towards the cup and before I could grab it, it went all over her. There was some very nice employees who let us into a private bathroom so we could dry her off and change her. Then we were off again...
